How to do a quick fix on my cracked front lip spoiler?
So i have a crack that's almost split my spoiler in two. I'm just looking to do a quick fix and paint it black so it looks OK. It's just the spoiler makes my car look way worse than it actually is (it's still pretty bad though) and want something to hold me over until I can afford a new one (considering all the things i still need to fix on my car it will be a while until i have money to fix the dings and scratches and paint the car). My biggest question is what should i use to fix the crack? I'm debating whether to staple the crack from behind, tape it from behind, or use one of those products meant to fix cracks. I would think last option is best but I've heard it doesnt provide any structural integrity. My concern is that if i scrape at a driveway (knock on wood) it would just crack again. Tape sounds like the cheapest fix but i feel if the spoiler bends, the tape wouldnt be strong enough to provide any sort of structural integrity and even though the spoiler would remain intact the paint would still crack and reveal that the spoiler is cracked.

i had good luck using a product called "plastic weld" from auto zone. its a 2 part epoxy. after you repair the crack, maybe you can scab in a piece of plastic from behind where nobody can see it? take your time, it will come out better.
another obvious thought would be to look for a used spoiler.

With motorcycle plastics we use plastic weld. your best bet its to drill a small hole only half way through your plastic on the back side right at the end of the crack. This relieves the stress at that point and stops the crack from growing. Then follow the directions on the plasti weld. Ive seen people carefully create a trough/ "V" type valley on the crack and then use the plasti weld and it was a very strong hold. and if you take your time you might not even notice the crack on the front depending on how the paint/plastic is holding up

3M makes a patch designed to go on the backside and keep the crack from being the weak link. They and others make numerous products designed for flexible PU body repair, they don't come extremely cheaply, but done properly fix the parts as near new as possible, you will have to go to a body and paint supply shop most likely to find them.

Thanks. Good to know
That patch sounds interesting but I'm not looking to spend too much money on a repairing it. I might just use some Gorilla glue along with the patch.

That is really interesting. I kept wondering how I was going to get the any sort of plastic weld to actually hold the twp pieces together when only so little could fit between the actual crack. And that was also a great tip about drilling a hole. I think this is probably what I'll end up doing.
