Tailights not fitting equally!!!!HELP!!!!

OK heres the deal. I have an 89 iroc. Bought a 91 tailight assembly to replace broken one.
The taillight is the same and fits right in, except it seems to mount about 1/4 inch too deep and the same amount too far towards the middle. Almost undetectable, but definetly not the same as the pass. side. I checked the parts and illus. cat. and it does list a diff. page for 91 an 92 taillights although it seems minor. I know the taillight is the same. What is the difference? What is wrong and how do I fix this? It works fine, but it is going to drive me crazy!!!!!

Apparently you have a warped tailight, I don't know what you could do about it being out to far but you could put some spacers or washers between the studs and the body or between the nut and studs to equal the difference (1/4 inch).
