privacy cover install

Hey everyone,
I just bought a cover for the rear hatch and it didn't come with mounting screws. My question is what can I use to put it on? Also where does the cover attatch to? I don't see anywhere for it to latch on.... any help is appreciated on this

Hey Jayman,

The cover itself is held by a connector that go by where the sail panels are...on the plastic part...one on each side...those are screwed on there...and it latches on the hatch itself...where the glass meets the plastic part on the inside...it should have a couple of notches on the hatch...but...if it was not originally equipped with one...then it's not gonna have the notches on the hatch or the connectors on the sail panels...I don't know if you have to get a new hatch w/notches or what...my guess is that your car was not originally equipped with that option...good luck man....

if that's the one you're talkin about, then the pattern for the holes in the sail panels are indented onto the back of the panels. take them out and use a dremmel to cut away the holes.

Now, if you're talkin about the hinged cargo cover, you'll have to get the mounting brackets off a donor car and weld them onto your car (I just used JB weld, worked fine)

Its the spring loaded cover and I got the mounting brackets off of ebay (where else) I have heard something about metal plates located behind the plastic interior pieces, do I absolutely need these? If I do I am guessing I can fab something up and be set with it. Now where should I be looking for these things? around the sail panels?

you don't need the metal pieces, the cover will hold itself in nicely. As for the holes for the mounting plates, take off the sail panels and on the back side you'll see an indentation where the spots for those should've been cut out. cut them out with a dremel and you'll be good to go

I cut the metal reinforcements off a wrecked car and pop riveted them to my IROC. I suggest you do the same.
