i was just wondering if there were any recalls fot the 86 pontiac firebird.

 

Try alldata.com or go on yahoo and search for recall 86 firebird. They have listed 352 recalls or TSB's on the 305 model.

I checked on the NHTSA site and they listed 4 recalls for 1986 chevy camaro. I knew about the seatbelt one, but they also listed something about the parking brake cables and headlight switch. Is GM required to replace these parts at no charge? I need to get my seatbelts replaced, and I wouldn't mind getting replacement parking brake cables too!

 

How do you know if your car already had the recall done,...do you just call a dealership and make an appointment or do u have to wait for something in the mail to come from the dealership stating there is a recall

Checking your recalls is as easy as going to your local pontiac/chevy place (whichever your car is). Ask around and they'll send you to someone near the parts center and you'll have to give them your VIN number. They run it through the computer and give you a printout. It's free. On the printout you'll find out which plant your car came from, what day it was built, and the original owner's name. You'll also find out how many owners have owned the car (within 1 or 2 depending on how long ago you bought your car). Best wishes.

 

I did not know you can find out the original owner's name? I have been trying to find out the original owner's name and get some info from her but the 2nd owner (the guy I bought it from could not remember). I know what town she lives in but no name.

I will do that tomorrow.
