Is this normal?

I have a 88 Trans Am with tilt steering. Is it normal for the steering wheel/ column to move around up/down, side to side a little? It moves equally in all directions ( about 1/4" at the steering wheel, is there something loose in there, and if so, is it hard to fix? thanks in advance.

Ya, I got an 88 Bird and it did the same thing twice now. I just brought it in the dealer and they fixed it. Dosn't cost that much.

My 87' T/A does the same thing. How much did they charge, or do you know how to do it?

Thats bad, mine did that. There are like 3 inverse torx bolts that come loose inside. You have to take most of the column appart - took my unlce (who is a mechanic) 3 hours to do the job. Locktighted them and everything so mine's good to go. You want to get that fixed before it gets too bad. Mine was close to having the bolts all they way out It soo nice to have decent steering again.

You should check out the Cascade Crew board, your from our area Yeah, shameless plug I know
