Super Quick DIY Repaint 1991 GTA
As you can see from the Pics this ride needs some love in the visual department. I don't have a lot of time or $$$ so since I have painted some cars many moons ago and do use a spray gun weekly in my business I figured this is a no brainer. Ill DIM (Do It Myself).
I do want some feedback if some of you body guys will be so willing. This car has 1 dent that I can find so far I am sure after sanding Ill find something else (hope not). You can see it in the picture. Also some wrinkling paint on the rear bumper you can see in a picture too.
I am not going for show quality but a nice 5-10 footer so that you know what effort i plan to put into this. I see right off the bat I will need more light so I guess a trip to harbor freight is in my future but I guess Ill tape out first.
So here goes.

Re: Super Quick DIY Repaint 1991 GTA
Need help removing the "hood grills" at the front of the hood.
I have removed these 2 nuts with a 5/8 deep well socket that are on the bottom side of the grills.
I need to get at the other two but the hole is to small for the socket can some share how you removed these?
I guess I should update as well. I could be doing this a lot faster but I am also doing some spraying today in my shop so I am taking this stuff off in between coats. But here's what I got so far. By the way I found out my "non-working" power hatch actually works it just has all the plastic parts broken so I guess I need to buy one of those rebuild kits. It was unplugged but as soon as I plugged it up it begin running.

Also have a question on these headlights. Is there an adjustment that will help this?

~
I am in the middle of a repaint on my son's 1991 TA. Check it out at this thread:
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/body...-firebird.html
It's ALL apart. Should be ready for the sealer and color end of this month. I'll be watching yours to see how it goes.
(Be careful with that spoiler! They're fragile and tough to find if you break it.)

Holy crap that idea for getting the speed nut off is great! I havent seen that before...but Im doing that for sure! Ill be painting mine soonish..but even still, I always had wax and other crap built up around those and they were always too much of a PITA to remove. This looks like it makes a quick and easy job of it.
As for your headlight issue...like someone else mentioned they probably just need a rebuild. lon from top down solutions can get you everything you need. Its a VERY easy job. Just three little bushings inside the motors, a cover gasket, and some grease. You'll be shocked that the lights were even working at all when you see the condition of the existing bushings most likely. And its cheap! They'll work like new.
Good luck with the re-spray! Ill be watching as Im going to be doing a quick DIY spray job myself. Either blitz black..or stock color haha. We'll see how Im feeling when I wake up that day...

I've seen the speed nuts put on like that and found it really weird. I think someone put them on like that at the factory just to screw with us third gen owners. there like that on the camaro door panels.... just weird.
but good job so far, keep up the good work.
