wiper assembly pit

All I could think of to call it.The area at bottom of windshield where wiper assembly works. It has a screan over it to keep leaves and such out.Mine on an sports coupe is gone and leaves have gotten down in it and water was in the floor today after heavy rain. This car is not a running car.But plan on fixin it up.How dose the water drain out of this area.Whats a good way to clean it out?

Goes down the sides of the cowl, out a flap, behind the fenders.Gotta remove the plastice fender mud guard to see/access them.
