82-84 front end conversion to 85-92?
82-84 front end conversion to 85-92?
Hey guys first time writer long time researcher, ive looked over the forums and i still cant find a detailed explanation of changing a 82-84 front end cover with a 85-92 front end cover on a camaro. I understand its possible but what is involved in doing this? also the side skirts from a 82-84 switching to a 90-92 are these bolt on or is it more of a process?

If your car already has gfx, it wont be too bad. It is a lot of work though. First off, make sure you get a matching set. The 85-90 gfx are different than 91-92, so pick which style you like and go with that. You are gonne need a 85+ front bumper cover, front gfx, grill, fog lights and brackets (if wanted) rocker and door gfx, rear qtr gfx and matching rear bumper. The toughest part is that you are going to have to remove ALL the interior plastics including the door panels and rear seats to do this swap. The front bumper isn't bad. Remove your bumper and gfx and replace it with the new bumper and gfx. To remove your side gfx you must remove the door panels, rear seats, and rear interior plastics. There is a hidden bolt inside the body panels by the rear seat bottoms. Once all that is removed you will be able to see where everything else is bolted in. Remove your gfx and install new ones. For the rear to match the front, you must change out the rear bumper and rear qtr gfx. To do that you will need to remove the rear interior plastics, tail lights. With that out of the way you can see where all the bolts are inside the rear qtrs that hold the bumper to the rear qtr. Remove all the fasteners on the top of the bumper cover and underneath. The bumper will come off now. Remove the rear qtr gfx and replace with the new style and new bumper. Reinstall all your interior and you are done. I did it with my car which had NO gfx from the factory. It is A LOT of work, but will look great with some hard work. Hope that helps.

I'm waiting for someone to do this near where I live...I'll gladly take all those nasty 82-84 GFX off their hands!
