9 times out of 10 it's the latch sticking. If you gently push down on your hood you should get the latch to fully engage again thus, putting tension back on the hood pull. Pull the cable again (if it's truely not broken) and it should release tension on the pull but the hood won't pop, with a towel on the tiip of the hood (unless you don't care about dents) give a slight rap on the hood,,, it should pop the hood. After its open,, use some carb cleaner on the latch followed (after drying) by some spray white lithium grease. My camaro does this, my bird did & even my old daytona did that. It should fix the prob unless your cable is truely broken. Hope that helps

I had this problem before when i put my bat in it got cought on the hood relise cable and made it so the latch was aways open or if it would latch u cant open it. i just pulled really hard on the cable from in the car and the hood opend and i fixed it
I am going to try to push, or hit the hood pretty hard this morning, when my brother gets up, I tried last night, but then I seen that my spring got knocked loose, so now I require two people to get it open, thanks for the help.
Mine was sticking real bad, so I just took and sprayed wd-40 in the release under the hood. Works great and never had a problem. So you might think about doing that. It helps alot and I spray it once a year to keep it good.

You can open the hood without getting under the car and without hitting the hood. If you remove the grill you can get your hand up to were the latch is. Find the cabel and then push the little metal thing it is connected to while at the same time with your other hand push up on the hood.
My hood used to not pop up all the way so I took the latch off sprayed degreaser on it and put the latch back on but I lost 1 screw and now it won't pop up at all. Maybe I didn't put the cable back on right. I'll check it out tommorow.
