i heard the por-15 restogrip works really well, but people suggested i have someone cut it out and weld in a new metal piece....any opinions welcomed

 

What's the rest of the door like? Spots like that on the outside of the door scare me...if the door is rotting on the underside too, I'd consider just replacing the whole door with a used one. the hole in the floor pan pull up the carpet and just weld it up then if so desired grind it flush prime it and paint it. then put something to coat the bottom to prevent the paint from getting screwed up. the door looks like it may have had bondo put on it at one time so hard to tell
