Budget interior swap
Budget interior swap
Whats the cheapest anyones payed for a major interior swap/replace? I mean seats, carpets, all plastic mouldings, headliner etc. Dash optional cause I think they were all black.
Im looking to try and do it under 400-500 total. Icluding seats hopefully. Most will be used etc obviously, and some probably wont be origional like carpets and headliners.
Think its possible or been done?

It all depends on what color you are changing to...or trying to get. I decided to go from gray to black. I am halfway there. I found a set of black GTA seats from an '89 for $300 in mint condition. I bought mint condition black plastic pieces for my entire car(whole rear area, door sills, a-pillars, seatbelt covers, pieces for t-tops, kickpanels w/black rug) from a '91 for about $200), I found a mint black rug for $50, and I am currently looking for a new headliner...since mine is a mess. Oh yea, I also bought a t-top bag for $25. Look on ebay. You should be able to find some things cheaper...such as the seats...but if you want a nice set expect to pay in the upper 200's. I bet you can find a nice set for around 200 if you really look. The best place to look is on this classifieds board and on ebay. The junkyards are a good place to look as well. It is very hard to find the black plastic pieces...that is why I grabbed them so quickly...actually I won them on ebay. If you know anybody who has a nice black headliner for sale let me know...and I will be on the lookout for interior parts for you. Let me know what color you are looking for. Well all together I guess I will spend no more than $700. But I think it can be done for $500...but it will take a lot longer...a lot more patience...and a lot more looking before you can actually get it done. If you have t-tops make sure you get the seals replaced if they leak. I ended up having to buy seals for my t-tops so that I dont ruin my new interior. Oh yea....I am on the search for a set of black seatbelts. If you find any...please let me know. They are really hard for me to find...all I need is the fronts...but if you can find a complete set that would be even better. Thanks.

Just find a complete interior in a junkyard car. I paid $200 about 3 years ago for a mint black interior in a 91RS. Most all salvage yards don't strip the interior parts unless someone needs a piece. If you can find a car that just came in you can get a deal.
Im looking for a black/grey combo interior preferably. So that should give me a little more selection for parts finding.
I spent last night on Ebay and found a guy selling about 75% of a black interior for a firbird but i didnt know if it all would fit a camaro or not.

i switched from red to grey for about $250 minus headliner and speaker covers (haven't done them yet. I got 4th gen seats out of the Junkyard for $125, got all the plastic and carpet out of an 88 TA for $70, and got 92 Z28 door panels for $30. Oh yeah i got a black center console with all the parts from the TA. Its pretty much done now, an it looks pretty dang good if you ask me.
