4th gen console in a camaro

i'm toying with the idea of putting one in, but it looks like there will be ALOT more cutting involved to put one into a camaro rather than a firebird

anybody know???

I'd also be very interested if anybody knows how to do this would also like to know where I could get one and what year would be the best one, and should it be from a auto or a standard car?
I have a turbo 350 auto.

i put an automatic 97 console in my 91 rs cnvt. it's a little harder to get the automatic console to work, but it will work. it is pretty much a direct bolt in, just have to modify the radio/heater part of you old console to work with the new one. i suggest getting a manual one if you can, preferably a 97-01 due to the extra cup holders on those years. good luck.

This may sound stupid, but what is the problem with putting in a auto console. Shouldn't it be the same between an auto and a manual?

with auto consoles you have to line up the shifter perfectly, with the manual ones you can have a little room to play with, you'll just have a shifter boot on it.

i have a few pics of my automatic 4th gen console in my 91 rs vert. if anyone wants them just email me for them. i don't think it turned out bad at all considering i never did anything like this before and had to make some mods to where i couldn't mess it up or the console would be ruined.

Ok, so does ANYONE actually have the pics that this guy is talking about. If so can you please post them. Or at least send them to me and I will post them. I still have yet to see a 4th gen console in a 3rd gen camaro with a modified 3rd gen console to hold the radio/ac controls and I would really like to see it.

i just took my time. cut the old one with a dremel. really wasn't any room or error. honestly, i really didn't have a plan on how to do it. i just set out and did it. did some measuring. made some ruff cuts, and just did some trimming after that to have it fit nice. had to cut it out to where the swivel cup holder is so it can swing in an out. it wasn't really that hard in my opinion. i think it was worth it. i love the 4 cup holders.
