I have a sheet of aluminum 24" x 48". If I have to I will try to make my own, but I have no experience with sheet metal work.
I'm hoping that there is a company out there somewhere that makes aluminum consoles for 3rd gens. I don't mind the plastic instrument panel/dashboard, but a console should be made out of metal.

This is a little far out there, but if anyone can find a fabrication shop or somewhere similiar with a laser cutting machine then you could probably give them a template of what you need and get them to cut it. I know this sounds expensive, but if you got a lot of them done in bulk the cost per part goes down, and then you can turn around and sell for a profit. I work in a fabrication shop and we only have a plasma cutting machine which damages the metal too much. They could be polished or left raw, or even anodized in different colors.
keep in mind aluminum interior parts get REALLY hot in the sun. i know Fl. can be worse than most places, but we once had a pro street... well maybe i shouldn't say (*******). but it had an entirely stripped out interior w/ all aluminum pieces and nothing in it could be touched if it sat in the sun for just a few mins.
I guess I didn't mention it in my original post, but I don't intend to leave the console
in bare aluminum. The aluminum would be upholstered or covered in carpet. I just want something under the upholstery that will be stronger than plastic. The only thing that won't be covered will be a shift gate.

Since you are going to cover it, it doesn't have to be perfect. You should be able to fab it yourself with hole saws, hack saw, files, bench vise. You know, the common garage tools. Rivet the corners with a reinforcement behind it. Epoxy works good as an assy method. Wood or metal angle steel pieces can ba used for the mounting tabs to secure it to the floor and dash. 3M Super 77 adhesive to adhere the carpeting. Nothing exotic or complicated about it. If you need help, let me know. I thought you were referring to aluminum panels with the machined swirl mark pattern to it, which would be more difficult. McMaster-Carr is in Sfe Springs and can supply most all of what you need (562)692-5911 http://www.mcmaster.com/.
