Hey guys,

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to have someone steal all four caps off my GTA wheels (I take a train to work five days a week, bastards are usually just taking my valve caps though).

I've looked around the local junk yards, no success. Anyone know where I might be able to order a replacement set?

 

The caps are still available from GM, but the inserts are not.

The gold Firebird emblem used on the 1987 GTAs is available from the aftermarket, but I am not sure about the later "WS6" inserts used from 1988-1992.

Try Year One, Ames, or The Paddock to see for sure.

Thanks man...I have an 89, but it's been so long and I had only owned it for a month or so before they were stolen that I can't even remember what the hell was on them.

Doesn't matter though since I love putting new stuff on it anyway. Thanks for the leads.

You can beat that price new from GM. I have a set of center caps that I bought to use for car shows only and the caps cost me about $14 each. The inserts were about $8.00 each when they were available.

Lon, those inserts you have at auction look like they have silver lettering on them... is that correct?

If so, they'd be the ones used for Trans Am's with the WS6 option. The silver lettering on the insert goes with the silver "Trans Am" decals used on the body.

That's what I need, the gold inserts. The emblems are gold so I'd want the inserts to be as well. Did you buy the inserts from GM too?

Aslo, do you have a link or any info as how to go about ordering from GM?

Any Pontiac parts department can order them for you if they are still available, but if memory serves me the black WS6 inserts have been discontinued.

 

Nope, gold lettering. I shot them outdoors in sunlight. The background is a mirror. I'll get a better shot & post it. They came off a 88 GTA. I bought the tires & rims and swapped the center inserts for "Camaro" ones.

I have sitting on my desk right now 4 gold WS6 Center Cap emblems that I ordered from the Pontiac Dealership in Manchester NH and just picked up this morning. Part Number 1005-2356. The actual center caps themselves are supposed to be in tomorrow morning. Now if only they had ordered the right Air Dam for me. Yes, an update here too.... I checked with my GM dealer this AM and the # 10052356 black/gold "WS6" center cap inserts are indeed still available.

According to them, the GM warehouse in St. Louis, Mo has 18 pieces in stock. They retail for about $11.40.... wholesale for about $8.30 each.

Get 'em while you can, folks!
