Gauge pod install question??access to firewall from top of dash?
O.K. I'm putting in a temp. gauge and I'm using a A arm pillar pod and dont know if I can run the line down through the top of the dash(like I want to),,
my question is ,,is there someone out there who has a firebird with the dash pad off that can look at there dash to see if there is any access down through the top where I can run a temp. sending unit to the firewall.I dont think that its going to be long enought to go down under the dash first. It's an Auto Meter with a 6 foot line.(not very long)I'm going to put it in this weekend but dont know if its going to be a waist of time to take the dash pad out.Any help or ideas would be great.

Okay, First I have a Camaro so I don't know if this will help. Second, I had mine installed at the dealer. The Auto Meter water temp guage was the lowest of the 3 gauges I put in(sorry pics not ready, just took 'em yesterday) but I remember the mechanic saying he took the line threw an exsisting hole in the firewall, however he had to use a special sensor that he had to drill into the engine block because it would have thrown off my cars computer to wire it to the exsisting "idiot" gauge. So now I have both the "idiot lites" and the gauge in the A pod. The wiring runs down the pillar and along the area above the kick plate to the fuse box and then to the firewall. The dash pad was never removed. Both cars dah pad/A pillar setup is simular. I am just glad I let the dealer do this because I would have not know that and would have been more costly for my pocket. In the end it looks and works great. Only problem is when it rains I have a small leak from the T Tops that is trying to get in my pillar pod. I will definetly change my weather stripping this winter during hibernation.

I installed a dual gauge pod on my a-pillar myself, with Air/Fuel and Oil pressure. The Air fuel had to be hooked up to the wire by the computer chip so that was no problem. I drilled a hole in the firewall below the dash, right by the brake pedal I think...for the oil pressure tube. I cut a hole in the a-pillar to run the wires down, and stuffed them along the side of the dash until they went in..hard to explain, but that's what I did. I have the wires in a plastic tubing to protect and keep them together.
