Body Repair Advice

a few days ago I was in an accident in the front of my beautiful 92 got mangled. My hood was smashed in and my headlights are more or less gone. I found a hood on cl to replace mine with and a headlight bar as well. I can figure my way around simple things like removing side panels to get to the hood and replace it but I'm a little worried there may be more damage than I think and was going you guys may be able to spot something. I'll upload more pics in a few hours, for now, there's just pre and post accident pics

If you're unfamiliar with body work, please take it to a reputable shop.

Re: Body Repair Advice

I'm not completely hopeless, I've done simple body work before on my friends car like changing out a door with one from a junkyard and rewiring it, I'm moreso just looking for sets of eyes that are familiar with camaros. as much as I wish I knew as much about them as you guys do, Monica's just my car, not a car I put blood sweat and beers into making awesome like some of you

Re: Body Repair Advice

That sucks butt dude! Core support is bent and possibly the right rail?? You need the proper measurments and tools to make sure the foundation is straight. Without that nothing will be right. After the foundation is straight you can slap parts on.

Re: Body Repair Advice

Thanks. I'm planning on atleast slapping a hood on it for now, I know it's not the smartest thing to still be driving it but I don't have a choice and a normal hood would help a lot. I intend to buy a factory bolt on hood tomorrow off of craigslist, how would I know if my current hood is pin on or bolt on? And if it's different than the one I'm going to buy, is there an installation difference? (from what I can tell the hood is a steal at 110 for a bolt on, it's in excellent condition)

Re: Body Repair Advice

your hood is bolt on if it uses hinges its bolt on pin on you undo hood pins and lift off the hood completely

Re: Body Repair Advice

thanks for all the help so far guys. bolt ons the way to go for me then. I'm also planning on buying this headlight bar along with the front face. he's asking 80 for the bar and 175 175 for the complete face. are those fair prices? pics included.

Re: Body Repair Advice

That hood latch looks bent up. Replace it!
Nothing like the hood flying open at 70 mph to ruin your day!

Re: Body Repair Advice

I was afraid of that. Right now my hoods actually tied down for that exact reason lol. Planned on putting the new hood on and if it didn't latch then ordering one but if it looks that clear to you that it's bent I may as well get on that now.

I'll do ya one better. I had a fiberglass hood where the skin separated from the framework at 70mph. Fun times!

Re: Body Repair Advice

I can't believe the fenders didn't get tweaked!

Nice high hit. I doubt the frame got anything. Couple of hours of R&R and some paint work.

Re: Body Repair Advice

X2 on (Joe) anestes

Was thinking that the whole time but was waiting on better pics. Check around on the price for the headlight bar. IIRC that's aftermarket and that's about what they sell for new. Bumper cover kind of scares me because it looks like it's been primed, possibly to cover up something. You won't know till you sand on it . Pull-a-part in your area would be cheaper if they have a third gen. And yes replace that latch. They aren't expensive and very important. You will still need the braces from headlight panel to support. And a condenser possibly radiator also. Hood hinges may be tweaked as well.

Re: Body Repair Advice

Where do you live?
My husband is a body tech by trade, and I have every piece that you would need for that front end except that lower ground effect. Is your front bumper torn anywhere?
I can see you will need headlight bar, possibly the buckets, hood latch assembly and support piece, possibly some bumper brackets, as they may have gotten tweaked a little. I don't think so though- your body line gaps on the fenders still look good.
