My 86 was painted years ago by gm and they replaced the pass. side door/body molding strip with a black one then painted it.The car is white and I assume gm used a white colored molding in 86 ,not painted.Now the paints coming off and I cannot find a factory type molding anywhere.These are the thinner moldings with the grain look to them , 1/4 inch maybe.Driver side is original I assume and its white,no paint.Anyone know who sells them?

 

hawks list one as 1/2 inch but no picture.Think mine is closer to 1/4 ill get a pic

 

I got my half round paintable from Hawks. But it is Trim Gard brand.

They have almost any kind of profile and color.

 

Why don't you just remove(or tape off) the molding and repaint it.I assume your color is White(40) WA8554,you can get that in a spray at Advance or Pep Boys.

Doesn't GM give a lifetime warranty on their paint? I looked at going with them for complete paint job because of the warranty they 'said' they honor.

 

yea they warranty it but the problem is the warranty is only good through them.Each time it went back in the 3 months they just messed up something else.Finally had to go demand car back with still no stripes or decals done and settled with them on the paint..This was years ago though.Anyway painting this trim rarely works and if its white all the way through when you get a hit it doesn't show like scraped paint.Beth91 are you saying you have the pre-cut factory white parts or just generic roll?thanks all

 

I have the factory OEM ones- just pulled them off a parts car. Car had been sitting since 96.....
