Hatch is leaking into glove box :( ruined an amp...what next?

Just discovered my soaked glove compartment today. My amp is soaked and I can (with little effort) pull my weather stripping up off of the groove it rests on. There seems to be no tears. I've been told to use some "liquid silicone" and seal the edges well. Would this work? Does the stuff at the store say "liquid silicone" or should I look for some special brand name?

Wow, what a coincidence. It's been raining hard here and I went to get my Owner's Manual out of the rear glovebox today... it was soaking wet. Maybe some other people have fixes for this...

Well, the reason the amp was in the glove compartment was because it was a HIDDEN system. The amp was only a 120 running two 8s. It didn't get very hot and if no-one can see it from the outside, they probably won't break your glass to look around. Does anyone have any ideas on liquid silicone? Has anyone ever replaced the back weatherstripping and fixed the problem?

Park on an incline. Or a decline, I forget which, but my driveway inclines towards the garage, and when it rains hard, there's a fish pond in the trunk after awhile. So it's a decline, park on a decline and you're fine.
