Carpet

I want to raise the carpet so I can get at a small area of the floor that's rusted through on the driver's side just about eight inches ahead of the front seat in my 83 TA.

So what do I have to remove to lift the carpet in this area. Is it just that plastic strip that runs paralell to the bottom of the door on the inside that holds the carpet down or what?

Thanx

I think it's just the kick panel and the sill panel(plastic think right underneath the door)

It may also help to take the seat out. If you can't lift enough of the carpet to get to it, then you may need to remove the rear seat back, the cushion on that side of the car, and the rear panel next to the seat. Then you should be able to flip the carpet towards the center of the car. Just be careful, lots of times the padding sticks to the carpet.
