Is that photoshopped? That looks cool as hell!! I want to do that. Is that bad for the frame though?

Take it a step further and remove the hatch glass as well. I was looking into that for a time... If you could make a "quick release" set of hinges for your hatch... Then create another hatch (from an existing rear hatch decklid and the metal glass frame) that essentially cleans up/covers the weatherstripping - well then, you'd have something... Pop the regular hatch off when you have an assured nice day, pop the "cover" hatch on and BAM! instant Trans Am Del Sol...

How about a Notchback too, that might be kewl looking.

I would REALLY be concerned about structural integrity. Get yourself a really good set of Frame connectors, and weld the heck out of it.

Interestingly, in 87 there was a T/A prototype that they did that to.

Of course making the top would be interesting, since Glass would be expensive & plex is not stiff enough

There is a green 91/92 GTA by me that has that done. Looks like crap, but the person who did it kinda did a hack job IMO. But for some reason he wins alot at car shows. If done right it may change my opinion.

Yes, that image was photoshopped.
That is what I am going to do to either my current Trans Am, or my next one.
And I want to get the GT Auto Notchback, that would look sweet as h3ll.

All you do is duplicate the frame support that the convertibles have, then you should be fine.

I just don't want to have so much power that one day I gun it and the car breaks in half.

That pic was taken in june 2000.
I don't have many pics of the car with the tops off and with sky in the back ground, and since my car is in the garage I'll have to wait to get more pictures.
I can't wait to drive my baby, it's been 5 long months since I drove her.
Everynow and then I'll jump in the drivers seat and pretend to drive.

I had always wanted to do that to a T-top Camaro and make a custom fiberglass targa top for it. Your pic has inspired me even more. Of course if the top is coming off then a roll cage is going in! As it was so elquintly put above, it is smaoooooth.

Hey! I remember Simon & Simon, I was going to mention the Camaro (an 85 I think) but Jim85IROC beat me to it.... I always wondered if it was a one off GM prototype or if the producers had it customized for the show, It always got me thinking. to put it simply it looks SWEET!

Yes, those are the standard 15" Camaro wheels. Those were on the car when I bought it.

I would think a T-top version would be ALOT easier because all you have to do is eliminate the center bar.

I have an idea for the headliner too. Take an existing headliner and cut out the center section. Get some Fiberglass cloth and make a rough fill in of the gaps in the middle. and fill the rest to smooth it out. Then cover it with some new material, and wala your done. would be pretty easy.

For the dome light though, you would have to move it back in the rear part of the headliner. I would try and get one from a Camaro with the map lights. so you could have some lights facing forward. (If you have NO idea what I am talking about mention it and I will try and post some pix)

Getting the dome light to work & look right would probably be tricky to get all things ligned up.

Dome light should be fairly easy.
I already have a 4th gen rear view mirror with the reading lamps in the them.
I can't wait to make a Targa Top Trans Am.

Simon & Simon were 2 Private Investigators, that were popular around the time, if not a little before Magnum P.I. (You remember Magnum PI right, he drove the Ferrari 308.

Correct me if I am wrong, I was only about 10 when these shows were on TV.
