Interior carpet differences between years....

I notcied that in my old 82 S/E there was carpet on the side kick panels by your feet and on the wheel well on the side of the back seat. My 92 GTA doesn't have carpet there, why not? It makes the car fell alot more comfortable inside. Is this something that they did some years and not others?

Axle/Gears: 3.23

My 83 and 84 both have carpeted kick panels and the trunk area is also fully carpeted. I think from 85-92 they did not carpet these areas to save $. I also think the carpeting looks better than the plastic panels.

My 85 IROC has the carpeted kicks, as does my 88 GTA and my 86 Sport Coupe. My 86 Firebird did not.

None of my cars have the carpeted panels in the back, but my friend's 86 Trans Am does.

the kicks and rear panels in my 85 IROC were not carpeted.. neither was the 87 v6 cam i took the replacements out of.

Oh, yeah, if you couldn't tell, my 86' is carpeted everywhere.

I think it was an option some years, and eventually it seems like they droped it all together. I like the way it looks, and it would probably help a little by quieting the interior of noises.
