Omni MC262 clear

Have you guys had any issues spraying Omni clear over other basecoat systems?

Did it once over HOK without issue.

Edit: I think I used the 161? Nevertheless, I didn't have issues.

I want to give Omni a try. My friend thinks I'm cheap because I buy 5star and Starfire clear

I hear 161 looks like glass and has a deep shine, but orange peels like nothing else where 262 flows better and requires less wetsand/buff, but doesn't have as deep a gloss ?

Re: Omni MC262 clear

I don't recall it orange peeling more than anything else, but then again I always over-reduce and apply lots of coats. IMO, terms like "deep shine" and "glass" are dependent upon number of coats, cut and buff, et al. Even the POS clears can look great if they're finished properly.

My cheap go-to clear is Western (Western Select now(?)) Best cheap clear I've ever used. Less than $100 with hardener per gallon. My local guy quit carrying it and now slings Upol. It comes in a 5qt container so a bit of math is needed to compare it to the others. I cleared some Harley skins with it...not a bad product.
