Door rattle fix/needs improvement

So every time i hit a bump my entire door would jump, with the door open i lifted up on it and there was no play in the hinges or pins. So i figured it was the striker. I did a trick i learned on here, took the plastic cover off the striker for the rear seat latch. I cut it to length then cut a slit down the side so i could open it to put it over the door striker. It works, amazingly well at that. But the plastic is already cracking, so there must be a better solution. Has anyone else tried this or know a better way? If i take off the door striker and slide the plastic over it rather than cutting a slit on it would that keep it from cracking more?

Mine has been in place since I wrote the sticky several years ago. No issue with cracking.

and if you lift up on the door with it almost shut, you'll probably find your play in the hinges

Weld in subframe connectors will help that also.

Re: Door rattle fix/needs improvement

My doors are pretty darn good, but since fixing them in 2010 (or whenever I did it) they have since loosened over time.. I believe it to be a few things:
1) Rivets aren't perfectly tight on power door lock and window motors.. some people here use nuts and bolts, going to try that to get them tight.
2) The plastic door panel top panel (the black panel that runs along the top of the door panel) seems to always come loose from the door panel itself.. I have used glue but now I am going to use epoxy and really solidly mate that bugger together.
3) I could use automotive tape to reduce the rattling of the rods.
4) My window vibrates at certain heights, this is probably due to the roller bushing on the window track which I actually purchased from TDS (atleast I think this is the part for that lol). That would definitely help reduce rattling.
5) Putting Hushmat / Dynamatt inside the door frame will make the door sound much much tighter when closing and when driving.

Re: Door rattle fix/needs improvement

Well when i had the plastic piece on there it worked great, no movement at all. But since i had the plastic piece slit it didnt last long so im gonna redo it the right way. The hinges actually dont have any play in em.

Re: Door rattle fix/needs improvement

I think wire hole grommets would work on the rods to prevent noise, just slide them on a viola!
