custom console

I have been thinking about making my self a custom console. one thats not so bit and allows to have a single din sized radio with out it sticking out all funny. I was wondering if any one has done this yet and I'm not talking about the forth gen consoles. I'm talking about fiberglass home made stuff. if any one has done this I would like to see a pic if possible and how hard was it for you do. thanks.

I am planing on doing what you are talking about within the next few years... gimme some time...

What you will have to do is become very creative with Wood, or foam, or something for shape you make a template with the stuff, a little bono and fit it exactly to your car. then Paint the wood part, to give it a nice finish.

Once you have the part EXactly the way you want it out of wood, then you take some fiberglass and take a mold from it. You will need a some sort of release agent so it does not stick to the wood. Use wood to reinforce the mold so it will hold up to the fiberglass that you are going to lay for your part.

Now that you have some sort of mold. make a part.

to finish the part you cna cover it with Vynal, or paint it.

In short, thats how you do it.

i am starting my custom console tomarrow looks like im going to put in a 7 inch screen and dvd player and an 8 inch midbass driver. and then i have to put some space in their for my guns. but it will turn out real nice its a car audio competition car.

I know what your talking about the radio sticking out but if you want to keep the factory console just cut the heater stuff behind the radio and use a chevy flush mount kit it looks sweet and nothing sticks out i even vinyled mine so it matched the console...

If you need some help give me a holer...
