Would it hurt or help if i did this...

Hey guys and gals i just removed my T-top headliner board earlier today.Gonna replace it with a new one this weekend.Anyway, the reason for this post..I noticed that there is alot of "unused" holes under that headliner board,on the actual car that is,would it hurt to maybe put some type of insulation in them or possibly cover them up with some type of tape or something? Was thinking it might cut down on some of the road noise,heat/air escaping,etc..Tell me what you think..Thanx!

No, it wouldn't hurt anything but I don't think it would stop much of anything either. If you use an spray-in expanding foam type of thing and ever have to get to your wiring up there you could be boned though. I almost did the same thing when I put in my overhead console but decided that the time:benefit ratio was too poor to bother. That's just me though - give it a shot, if it turns out that you kill a bunch of road noise then please post back...

Chances are by insylating the structure above you between the T-tops would do you no good. The road noise comes from all over, and by eliminating the noise from such a small area would be useless.

It is like insulating your car with Dynamat, and having the quietest car in the world. Try rolling down your window, your car is as noisy as it was before with the window down.

The place I would start insulating would be the floorpan, hatch area, doors. Once you get those taken care of and notice noise from other areas, then move to those problem spots.
