Firebird Console Into Camaro *NOT FOURTH GEN*
I was wondering... if I unbolted the WHOLE console from the camaro... radio housing and all... and took the upper part of the console fromthe firebird... ya know just that top piece where the radio and a/c controls are... would it bolt right into the Camaro??? I wanna put in a 4th gen and I just like the 3rd gen bird console better... plus I wouldnt' have to cut... it looks like it would fit.. anyone???

Won't you then have a missing section of the dash where the radio pod fit in? The Firebird's dash and console were 2 seperate pieces, where the Camaro's meld together. Of course you could get a Berlinnetta dash, it wouldn't have a hole because of the dumb radio. But now that is a lot of work to put in a console the won't even really match.

what exactly does a berlinetta radio look like? I saw a parts camaro one time with this fugly thing sticking up from the console where the radio should be. It was liek a giant remote control. Is that the berlinetta radio?

The door is getting fixed now. We just have to weld up the holes from the bird's ground fx and then bolt on the camaro's. I'm just wanting to know if it would fit cuz then I could get a 4th gen console in there without any cutting. I would probably paint over the grid design on the radio pod section.

ok...recieved my radio pod (ONLY BOUGHT THE POD) in the mail tody...just finished tearing old the trashed up center console I had in there...
What ever I will do will have to be custom, totaly different, none of the munting points are the same, the air tubes are too long on the camaro, so Ill have to shave an inch off of those, but if I can do it, ill post pics...

a firebird radio pod wont bolt up to a camaro dash. see the camaro console bolts on the side of the dash. were the firebird radio pod bolts to the front of the dash. i also asked about this awhile back when i put a 4th gen console in my camaro.

actually you both are right and wrong...
just becuase it mounts different dont mean a thing, just takes some one talented to get something fabed up, which I will be doing...I just spend a few hours working with it and I know exactly how I will do it.
The grid pattern can be painted over, you have to clean it real good and sand it down with fine sandpaper until entire thing is smooth, then spay it with Plastic Bonding Agent, then spray it with paint of choose, then a few clear coats and whalla nice new radio trim
