I just finished install my 4th gen center console and looks great. I got this one out of a 2000 camaro automatic. When I first bought it I taught it would be a direct fit but I had to replace the shifter from that same car and install it in mine. I also had to bend some of the brackets that used to hold down my old shifter and it turn out great. I very happy with it but if you don't wan't to go through some modifying then stick with a console designed for a manual manual trans. good luck

In my car, My E-brake was REALLY tight and I could never pull it up far enough to get it out of the old console all the way....sooooo I unbolted it. You HAVE to be able to pull your E-brake up to about a 45 degree angle. if you cant you will have to do what I did.

Once it is through the new console all you have to do is bolt it back down before the console is lowered in place.

Window Switches? I havent done this yet...but use a dremel and hollow out the whole ash tray area, take the cover off, cut a panel to lay in their and cut holes for the switches...it will look factory, you just loose your ashtray.

Its easy besides those things...just a few bolts out,,,few bolts in

You can only use a 4th gen manual console anyway no matter if your car is auto or stick so you should be fine.

Ok I want to put a 4th gen console in my 86 sport coupe, now do I have to buy one out of a manual to fit my automatic and would I have to bend anything or change anything around to make it fit? Thanks

hello, i see that you can swap a 4th gen console into a 3rd gen firebird, but i also heard that you can't do the same for a camaro. any truth to that?

if you got the skillz and the time money and creativity, you can put the console in the Camaro too. Just takes some thinking.

I have the interior out of my car now while I am replacing carpet, and I have a camaro
What needs to be done to put it in and how does it meet up to the actual dashboard?

i believe the problem is, its like the console in the firebird/TA, it doesn't have the radio pod built in like our thrid gen consoles do. How ever I think you probably could mold your own radio pod or get one designed.
