You have no idea how solidly they are mounted. Since I cut the buckets out nicely, it also helps to hold the assembly in place too. I was gonna add brackets, but they aren't really necessary. If you open the hood you can't even tell the lights aren't stock. Light's still have full adjustability, and if I want to change them I can. I've driven it around, and the lights are solid. They don't bounce or flicker, so I guess that single bit of flat steel with a couple of bolts is strong enough.

 

That thing that they're selling is for the IROCSS nose piece they sell that bolts on El Caminos,it's not even the same nose piece that is on our cars-they're smaller and doesn't slant out as ours do.

 

I won't argue too much as I'm unfamiliar with the site; however, on their home page under "Just Added," Chevy/GM parts to include Camaros are shown. The lights in question are called "Camaro Uni Lights" or some such thing and are advertised as Camaro 1985-92 Composite Headlight (Direct Factory Bolt-on).

Oh,ok sorry.I thought that you were talking about that picture in that link.I just knew about the El Camino thing from them since I had thought about making an IROCSS out of an '84 El Camino I used to have...my bad

 

I just checked out www.laurenengineering.com main site and it does say camaro composite headlights but I'm not too sure that it is for a Camaro but just for the El Camino thing that I previously mentioned.

 

I've got to get the electrical stuff for the headlights, the guy I bought them from didn't include any of that

 

If you need the connectors for the 9005 & 9006 bulbs, I can tell you where to get brand new ones if necessary. Most GM composite headlamps since the late 80's use/used the 9005/9006 bulb types, so having the right connectors is helpful.

(p.s.: incidentally, you can also find these connectors at almost any junk yard. I usually clip them off leaving about 8" of wire on them so that I can properly splice them into my new harness.)

The lamps shown in the photo you attached are actually aftermarket Chevy C/K truck headlamps (with projector low beams) and are available through the following link:

I don't know how these lamps perform but I suspect that they're not great (...since most aftermarket lighting companies focus more on getting something out in the marketplace than on lamp performance) but they can't be any worse than the factory C/K truck lamps which are about the worse lamps I've ever seen in terms of lighting performance on the road.

Yeah, those projectors look cool, but are known for poor lighting characteristics. I was going to buy the APC truck ones, but decided to just get the celebrity lights. The light pattern from the celebrity lights are pretty good(better than my stock lights were).

 

Hey check out those diamond ones, forget the truck one's I like those, are our lights 4x6's??? I would just go whop out the ruler but my car's in storage (about 2,500 mi. away) So will those fit normaly???

I had a set of that same brand crack after being on for all of 30 seconds from the 100 watt bulbs I was running.

Oh and the light pattern blew goats.

 

Just to let you guys know, Revlimits headlamp conversion was done with projector headlamps from a Honda Accord. I think he did a good job.

I like the idea of the fullsize chevy truck projector headlamps. In fact, I think thats the best idea I've heard of yet. I'll have to get exact size specs and compare it to what I have. I know of one place that sells high quality projectors for 88-98 fullsize chevy trucks, but they sell them in a kit including turn signals (that we dont need). I'll contact them and see what the price would be just for the headlights. I'll also find out what bulbs these use (I think its 9005 and 9006).

well personally i like the diamond ones, at least its more true to the third
gen. I think the truck light idea is cool, but i dont think id screw with my
iroc. I like the way it looks already!

 

I had planned on doing the projector lamp swap about a year and a half ago. I even have a photoshop of my car with the lights from that exact white truck above, LOL. I think it would look cool!!
But now Im getting those lights for my black Tahoe Sport instead, along with a new grille, clear corners and parking lenses.

As far as the clear/diamond type headlights for our cars - I've had them for about a year on the IROC and really like them along with the clear markers.

Yeah, I bought these on ebay a long time ago. I believe there are several vendors of stock replacement headlights on ebay, so I don't know whom are selling there now though.
Either way, these use the H4 bulbs.

The parklamps are stock ones that I got from GMpartsdirect.com.
The clear side markers I got from Procarparts.com

Oh, and ya' should look into the "spacebar mod" for your keyboard before long too. You'll like it...

Has anyone figured out the wiring that needs to be done for the Chevy headlight swap for the projectors from the Silverado??

Or do you simply cut the wires off the exsisting headlights and wire them into the new bulb holders from the silverado??

Unless it's on the inside, a little chrome polish should bring them right back. It always struck me as odd that such a great looking car had headlights that looked worn out and tired. I suspect that a new pair or refurbishing those will make quite a difference toward the "modern" look of your car.

 

So did you just splice the 9006/9005 connectors into the Camaro wiring harness or is there some kind of voltage adapter required?

I see you added the metal bracket, someone I thought had mentioned the caprice lights were a direct bolt in, but my camaro lights are staggered slightly, I don't see how that's possible, without causing them to go at an angle, unless you were to loosen the outside headlamp bolts.

No voltage adapter required. Almost direct plug-in, even the wire colors are the same.

 

Where did you get the connectors, is there a company that sells the connectors for various cars??

you guys, this would be so easy. The only hard part really is mounting it.. thats it. im gonig to go to a junkyard and pick up some headlights from a 95 silverado, i believe thats what year it was, and just modify it so my bulb sockets fit, or cut the wires and solder the silverados bulbs in. but like i said, it should be pretty easy. ill post pics when i get it done

 

The backing plates on the chevy truck lights are kinda weird. I'd be interested in seeing how they can be modified to fit.

 

you would probably have to modify it where your stock headlights were.. those things where teh headlights actually mount.

 

I read somewhere that the housing are about an inch too big. Cant remember the thread ....

The single bulb housings that the chevy pickups use are too big.. they are like big honkin squares....

The dual housings that the 90-95 chevy s-10's have will fit like many of you have shown.

when i went to the junk yard i was looking for 4 separate housings (2 low 2 high beams)

so the chevy truck individual lights are WAY too big... the pickup dual lights like those are fine (i think a little small in height)
