The shocks on my car never held up anthing. Well I took some off a Camaro that appeared to work just fine, I mean It held the Camaro's hatch up just fine but I guess my hatch weighs alot more.

>What is there some kind of high power shock made for my car?.. haha

My hood shocks didn't hold the hood when I bought the car. I just replaced them with new ones from PartsAmerica.com and they worked fine.

The hood is reparable, forget about the hatch. Your aero Spoiler is too heavy, made of Solid Urithane & all. I am getting a couple of GTAuto Accessories Spoilers this winter, Currently I am getting 3, if you live in MI, We can cut shipping by adding one more.

I just got a Idea for a shock fix. I could invent some kind of clamp that works like a vice grip that you can use to hold the shocks in place. I try regular vice grips when I get home.

a friend of mine used a piece of aprox.3/4" pvc pipe about 16 or 18 in. long and cut a slit down it to let it slide over the rod and that worked good for him for a cheap fix.but they are only about $25 each for the back, and cheaper than that for the front ones.

You know,, you could just go to Autozone & buy some new ones made by Mighty Lift. Not only can you take them back if they dont work,, you get Autozone famous lifetime warrenty. You'd be amazed how well new items work. I have the 91-2 hi rise wing on my bird & the hatch lifts itself with the new struts.

The clamp thing has already been made (forget by who,, but I've seen it,, was made from aluminum).

Since I'm a cheap **** myself,, on my camaro,, I have a 8-10"ish piece of channel metal that I cut to hold the hatch open.

New stuts make a world of differece. My hood sturts were $36 for tha pair & I believe (w/o the reciept on hand) the rear struts were about $10-15 more for the pair.

Don't be cheap and hunt down used ones that 'seem' to work on another car,, just come of the extra cash & buy some new ones.

DO NOT USE VISE GRIPS!

It will score the shaft and sooner or later the strut will lose the gas/oil charge all over the interior and the hatch will slam down, EXPLODING on impact.

BTW if you hear the hissing DO NOT pull yourself up from the RR tire to see WF is going on. You'll only get your hand crushed by a falling 200 lb hatch.

I KNOW OK!

The J.C. Whitney repair bracket in my catalog has part# 13NS4688T and goes for $7.99 ea. If the p.n. from earlier post doesn't work, try this one. Their web site is a little buggy so you may need to call the 800 #.There are just so many times I can take my hatch lid falling on my head too!
