Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
The main grafting is done with a panel bond by 3m. Then the finish work is a filler epoxy from Valvoline. If you would like I can get the exact part numbers. Let me know.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
Thanks so much!! I actually sanded it today, I'm inpatient. I took some pics of it sanded and the grill in place. I'll post pics in the morning. I hope to paint it some time during the week. I'm still deciding on the color. I'm going to go with the new GM cobalt blue with silver GFX.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
I think it looks awesome and functional, best of both worlds from Camaro and TA.
I looked at thread due to wishing to graft just a center section from the Camaro to a duct system I worked into the inner impact bumper for direct air into two coolers and radiator.
Your build gives me comfort in knowing it can look good and be functional. I would also prefer to retain the center section for strength and support, plus a license plate mount. However I am going to remove the area between the plate mounting holes and mesh this opening also. I plan on removing the plate when racing and not required for street use.
Thanks for sharing your build and time for our benefit also!

Any time!! I love to share and see others ideas too, thanks for the compliments!! I really have enjoyed this build! I love your idea of mesh behind the plate mount section. That is a good idea!! I may have kept it doing like that.

Yeah, I'm impatient Too.
But really like were this is heading.
As a thought, the z28 lower fender gfx have the slit venting, might be a cool extention of your cross over design, maybe could graph it in on the TA lower fender gfx section

Yeah I have seen birds swap the side skirts and its a cool look, but never seen the front done. Mainly cause it would need your skill to do. So I think bit be a simple and subtle Touch that don't punch ya in the face or take away from all the work up front but there to should the complete merging of both firebird and camaro

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
well i know i said i was going to let this primer sit for a few days, sunday was too beautiful to not be outside finnish sanding a bumper tho. So here is some shots of the cover first in guide coat, then all finnish sanded ready for paint. Also i put the grill in so you can see how it is going to sit in there.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
OK guys! here we go, i went home for lunch and threw down some clear coat! just a day or so and it should be hard enough to put the hardware back on and put it on the car. then i can get some pics with it on for ya! it turned out realy nice for a color check, now i will block it out better when im ready to paint the whole car to get a real nice flat finnish. I loaded the clear coat with flex add, so it will be a little different to sand, but not bad. So here ya go!!!!!

[quote=Marc 85Z28;5666685]Looks like a Fiero.[/quote
A little bit like the Fiero GT. I happen to like my Fiero and miss my GTA. Don't get me wrong I like my Camaro alot but a Trans Am was my first thirdgen.
Great Quality work on the bumper. Really think it will turn some heads. Cant wait to see it on the car

I'm by no means knocking it, it looks awsomely original. Just at a quick glance, thats what popped into my head.
Freakin awesome. I love it.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
Thank so much everyone! The whole car will be painted that color. The reason I did just the nose for now was I didn't know if I would like it. These covers had issues and I just wanted to see what it would look like. So many people have done photo shops of this, and talked about it. And my curiosity finally got to me. So now I'm going to take the car all apart and paint it. I have some other custom stuff in mind. Just mild things. Don't worry!! I put the bumper on the car and took a ton of pics. I will post allot of them in the morning so you can see what it looks like on the car.

Yes you are right mystyk! I didn't even think of that till I read your post. I really like that open grill look, but I love the low sloped firebird look to. I'm really pleased with it. Id do a few things different if I did it again, but fun for a first hack at it

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
well the end is here!!! here is the bumper on the car. ill post 12 pics so you can get all kinds of angles. My plan now is to take the car apart, pull the motor and paint the engine bay then the rest of the car. I also have a crapy rear bumper cover that im going to shave to see what that looks like. This has been a fun build and had alot of fun sharing it with everyone!!!

That front end looks absolutely awesome. It looks so good, it almost looks stock. We you get finished, people will be trying to figure out what's different about it. Nice Job. Can't wait to see the entire car finished.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
One other thing. I went back and re-read all of the posts. Did you design your grille with soldWorks and make the parts on a 3 D printer? It really looks like it belongs there. Again...Good Job!

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
well thankyou marc. I can totaly feel where your coming from. to be honest this has been an idea ive had for years, and couldnt bring myself to do it to a good nose. Over the years i've aquired parts from parts cars and with this thought in my mind i saved these two covers that were in prety rough shape. I didnt even plan on liking it, infact I wasnt even going to post this project till i got halfway thru and it started taking a realy cool shape. Then i was like i have to share this idea with everyone else just to see if it would be liked by others as well. To be honest the feed back ive been getting is alot more positive than i anticipated.

Dont suppose you share out the solidworks file, be interesting to look at.
Other than that, probably the best non standard (kinda) bumper i've ever seen suited to the bird, even solved the air dam issues that can arise. Nice Work

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
I actually wouldn't mind making more, but just in the correct epoxys needed for this almost cost $500 bucks. Not sure it's worth a few thousand dollars it would take. Your welcome for the files. Did they makes sense? The "post" model is to glue the parts together for more strength as my printer only prints 8 x 8. Had to break it up in four sections.
I pulled out my paper work, I was off on that cost. I was a total of about 500 with everything (primers, paint, clear, flexaddative, and other materials) this did not count the cost of the covers. The epoxies were about 40 dollars each.

yeah they are fine. What epoxy's did ya use ? Did you use all of it or is there enough to make a few bumpers ?
