Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
Yes it used all of it. The panel bond is from 3m, used three of those, then another binder epoxy again from 3m. It is designed for the rubber bumper to flex the same so you don't get cracks. Then the finish cream is from Valvoline. I used two of those. All these epoxies fit in a special gun by 3m. What would be sweet is to make a mold for a fiberglass nose!!
panel bond is 3M 08115
finnish filler is Valvoline 8003 called plio grip

Great idea and work. It does look like it could be stock, however it looks more aggressive! I wish to learn body work sometime soon.
Nice work.

i started to take the bird apart for the new motor, and paint the car. it was sunny before i started and took some final pics. these are some nicer pics with the sun low on it and you can see the grill a bit better. thanks again for all the comments!

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
KBD85... Got an idea for ya....I remember seeing an older Grand Prix with 3/4" or 1" chrome bars mounted vertically in the same area as your open mesh...It made the Grand Prix look very similiar to a GTO.
I would like the idea of just setting something in the grill and take a pic of it, just to see if it would increase the aggressiveness of the look.
Just an option to see the looks of it.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
That is a thought. I'll have to check it out a month or so down the road. Got most of the front end off today. After it's painted I will have to see what that would look like and get a third gen opinion

TEASER ALERT, for those subscribed to this thread, and off course any others interested. The rear bumper shave is looking very nice!! I will be starting a new thread for it just to keep these separate. I'll put it in this section.

I seen this thread and I avoided it like the plague! Glad I finally went in to see what you were up to! That bumper is badass! If I had a firebird I would be all over you trying to get one or copy what you did!

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
Well, i had an hour or so and got to play on the bird. I am almost done with the grill, so the first few pics are of the fitment of it, as you can see only half of the louvers are printed. the rest should be done today. I also got most of the filler sanded, and am ready to put down some finnish coats. For those of you who have not worked with rubber / plastic bumpers, it is a special type of filler you need to use for the flexibility. anyway, ask any questions you like! leave oppinions and ideas!! i love to hear what you think and what you would do otherwise. very interesting to me! thanks for looking and ENJOY!!!!

83RDRACR, I designed it in solid works (a 3D program) then printed it on a 3D printer. If you have access to a 3D printer I don't mind sending the files.

Here is kind of a shot i just taped a light in there to see what it would look like. This is a bigger light, i realy like the look, so i guess i will have to look for a fourth gen headlight. the ones that are shorter. I bet it fits perfectly in there!

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
That color is awesome!! Ive been looking for a blue for when I repaint my 86. It was originally blue/silver gfx, and I think I want to keep that theme, but wanted a nice blue. All the ones that I like in the sunlight, look too purple in the shade. But this looks like it retains its blue appearance pretty well even in lower light!
Is that the case or do the pictures mask it some? I just didnt want the car to look purple/silver on a cloudy day haha. Otherwise, that blue is sweet.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
You are correct. It retains a deep blue. I was worried about the very same thing. It's a GM color. Further up in the post I give the details. I actually went to as many car lots as I could so I could see the true color.

Love the work. Its good to see other people thinking outside the box. I'm doing a front bumper mod also, but not firebird/ camaro mix. Check it out on my facebook group project-rs. Keep up the great work

Yes I remember your project on here. I actually don't do face book, but I do read your updates. I will have to see if my wife will look it up on her face book. I really want to see your build painted!! It looks mean.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
Seeing the title of the thread I thought it would be another stupid Firemaro with a Camaro front grafted on a T/A...
Then I saw the work and the final result and I must say I really like it ! It stays true to the 80's style and just fits perfectly with the design.
It could be stock. That is the "secret" of a good looking modification IMO, it should look like it came out of the factory this way.

Re: FRONT BUMPER FIREMARO GRAFTING
THANKS SO MUCH! I had fun messing around with it, as said before it was a crapy cover and i wanted to just mess around with it. Not sure if im totaly sold on it, may tweak it a bit. May put back on the factory one... dont know yet. For now im going to get the rest of the car done and run with it for a while. collect both possitive and negative feedback.
