Another hatch pull down problem

I took my camaro out of storage yesterday to do some work on it. I popped the back hatch and the pull down motor will not re-engage and close it. The parking brake light on the dash is also always on, is this related? Haven't had time to address this yet just looking for some ideas.

Thanks!

Re: Another hatch pull down problem

Just as an idea....I would look at a possible sticky switch on the motor itself.

Re: Another hatch pull down problem

Is the hatch pull down motor running? If it is, bad gear nut or cracked housing.

I was battling this problem for a couple years, at certain temperatures it wouldnt ever re-engage and pull it back down. I finally bought a truck and stopped using it as my D/D, it wasnt till last spring that i noticed the parking brake light come on. I took a shot in the dark and pulled the parking brake and tried it.....and it started working....tried it a few more times, and it would only work with the parking brake pulled. IDK why, but thats how it works on mine when the temps drop below like 70
