1984 - 1986 Berlinetta tail light modification
Has anyone re-painted the center raised gold accent on berlinetta tail lights a different color? If so, can you post some pics. Thanks.

That's what I was looking for. Thanks a lot. I also see that you painted the silver inner filler panels black.

Nope; those tail-light fillers are factory Black; I don't know how or why they were like that.
I've owned it since 92' and I doubt the woman owner before me ( second owner ) ever had them custom made. I'm well aware that the plastic "fillers" are supposed to be silver with gold accents on the Berlinetta. When I got this car they were black with a gold stripe; I painted the entire stripe Silver across all the lenses/fillers a few years later.
A long time ago I came across another single/spare Berlinetta lens that had a black filler and gold stripe...... It's the only other one I have ever found; compare that to probably 50-60 "normal' Berlinetta lenses I've been thru in that time !?!? I have never been able to explain why; but it is what it is !

Hmmm. Well I have some berlinetta lights with the silver ends so if I can remove that gold piece center piece it would be less of a hassle than to remove the entire unit. I'll give it a shot and post if it works.

Re: 1984 - 1986 Berlinetta tail light modification
So this weekend, I removed the center pieces off the berlinetta donor lights I had since the lights were cracked. The smaller end pieces were easy to take off but the larger ones were a pain especially since they were stuck on with some super strong adhesive from the factory. One broke in half but I managed to glue it back and it's not that noticeable.
Next step is to heat them up with a heat gun to get them a bit more straighter and then fine sand them down. Etch primer them, sand it again and paint them a black to match my exisiting center light stripe. I'll take pictures once i'm done.
