GTA door panel swap...all feedback welcome
GTA door panel swap...all feedback welcome
Alrighty just as the subject line states,i need some of yalls feedback on what modifications if any has to be done in order to correctly install GTA door panels onto my base Firebird.I can pretty much take the door panels off,but how the heck do you remove the trim around the handle and power door locks?and will all the pieces change over to the GTA ones?Back to the modifying question,do i have to do anything to the inner guts of the doors in order to mount the arm rests?Any advice and tips on this subject would sure be greatly appreciated
Thanx in advance to all that reply.Brent

Well--I put those panels in my T/A--you need to drill some new holes into the metal plates on the doors(riveted to the door)--right behind the old armrests--as for the plates where the locks go--in the center there's a small plug that's hiding a screw-take the screw out--remove it(plug) w/a very thin screw driver--and the plastic piece that covers the lock slide should pull right out--very simple swap to do--and worth it!!
Hope I explained it right! Hardest thing about this swap is pulling the panels off w/o breaking the plastic tabs behind it!

Just a note: the base firebird had the option of those door panels, they came with the "deluxe" interior which also had seat-pockes.
You will need:
-the door panels,
-the inside door handle (there is a screw that attaches the panel to the door) the location is different than the base interior.
-& the afore mentioned bracket.
