Axle/Gears: 2.43 Gear Ratio
Door Rod stop thing.

From the handle on the outside of my door is a skinny metal rod. Where the rod goes into the latch, should there be any kind of plastic bushing?

Yes, all the rods have plastic clips at the end. You get get them in the HELP parts section at the store. Usually called lock rod clips or such.
