That thing looks like *** . I wouldn't go near it. The odometer descepency says it all.
You want to find a thirdgen that hasn't been tampered with, no engine swaps, electrical work, etc.
Look for anything with a 350 tpi, you'll be happy you did. I've got an iroc, but I still love the firebird formula.
They're more expensive, but you'll be gald you did. Take your time, expect to spend about $3000 for a nice car. I wouldn't get anything older than 87.
If you have to, take out a loan.
Just make sure the car is in good shape, and don't compromise on anything. There are plenty of nice thirdgens out there. With winter on its way, you should get some nice steals.

I must say I'm a bit insulted about your comment on not buying anything older then an 87. I have an 87 right now, but I would ditch it in a min. if I could get my 82 back. as for the 350 tpi, yes a great engine, but not worth putting yourself in debt. since 350 are so easily gotten he could get whats in his price range (which seems to be about $700-1500) and then drop a 350 in it later. my 82 I bought for $1100 it came with a rebuilt 350 and a posi rear with 4.11's, great car. my car now needs some work, but for $900 it was well worth it. not trying to start a fight, but there is nothing wrong with an older car.

i agree, there's nothing wrong with buying an older car, you just have to be more careful, make sure everything is in working order, check underneath for rust, etc. as for that car on ebay, that's just hideous.

Hey,

Dont buy that car , its a piece of crap, anything under at least $1000 is not worth it, I got my camaro for 500 and boy to i ever regret it at times, go for something over $1000, as for milege, check to make sure the headgaskets and o rings are okay, or else you will have oil problems, when looking for a camaro dont get the v6! its a 2.8 litre, just trust me dont buy it Dont worry about the looks of the car when you buy it, look for the engine condition, if the paint is that bad there is always maaco till you get a good paint job, dont force yourself into shame with a 2.8, myne doesnt run and is coverd up in the garage, it was cheap, and everything imaginable is broken.

That under 1000 is completely wrong. I got mine for 750 off someone on this board. It had no dash, no interior, and didnt run. But guess what, i worked on it during the summer, got it running for about 50 dollars and a lot of searching for vaccuum leaks. Spent roughly 600 for the interior and after i spend 1000 on the exterior and 350 on new seat covers i will be done. So for roughly 3k I have exactly what i want, in fact i sold a 84 z28 with 305 carb for my iroc <305 tpi>. I loved working on it and getting things to be correct. It just depends on what you want. If you want to just buy it and win shows right away then ya look for 4k+ but if you want to do your work then go cheap and make it exactly how you want it.

Well, at least we all can agree that the car on e-bay is junk!!
I like 87's and up because of there body style and upgraded suspensions in the irocs and formulas, but thats just me.
No fights here, each to thier own. I went from a 91, to an 87
sorry you were, insulted??

WOW!!...$1550 final bid for that car. That sure seems to be a bit much for something that you would probably have to work on just to get it home.

There are a lot better cars out there for cheap. Clean (clean doesn't mean perfect, just not a basket case like above) 82-85 v-8 camaros can be had for around $1000. I found 3 or 4 with just a quick look on ebay. Try other sites like www.traderonline.com. Thats where I found my car.

hey hey hey, i got one you could buy, brand new sheet metal, painted it yesterday, and as long as you don't mind the crumbling suspension, rotted structures, and tired v6, it's all good....
just joking... the v6 isn't tired

I had my 82 when I was 15, we put jeep grand cherokee springs in the rear of it, jacked it up almost 6 inches. kept until I was 17. I could not afford the insurance, I live in florida, and could not keep it parked in my complex so I had to sell it, and I miss it still.

Nothing wrong with a car that is older than a '87. Just know what you are buying and are willing to spend. Bought mine for $250.00 and it was a great deal. In fact a steal. If you are willing to work, seach pull it lots and junk yard go for it. I do suggest not buying it off of ebay. You need to see the car in person.
