need everyones thoughts again

so since discovering that my 87 trans am has bad rot in the subframe and inner rockers i decided the body is beyond repair, and since there are a lot of good parts on it i decided to look for a good roller to swap parts over to. So i found this near me. http://killeen.craigslist.org/cto/4223660143.html Its not a t top like i would prefer but if its a solid body i have a good powertrain to go in and it wouldnt be the first time ive had to put a power train in a trans am. what do you all think, im going tomorrow to look at it

Re: need everyones thoughts again

For $500 I would definitely buy it. Even if it was a total basket case there is more than $500 in parts value there. Looks to be in fairly decent shape body wise too.

heck yeah man..buy it...if it is solid then you have a good base to swap your stuff over to..and even if its not solid, part it out and get a little profit and look for a better shell.

Looks the same as any other $500 car in pics, but you are going to look UNDERNEATH this time , yes? I'll bet you could get it for less if you aren't too excited about it. After all you have to haul all the parts and no guarantees that any of the electronics work....

Re: need everyones thoughts again

Sounds like that one has title issues, may be parts only.

Re: need everyones thoughts again

I have never had to do it, but I know people how have and they said it was easy to file for a title. There is instructions on the TXdot website on what to do. Might be worth looking into.

Re: need everyones thoughts again

so i looked at the car, not a spot of rust besides surface rust. its missing engine harness, but it is a posi car, digital dash, overhead console, no ws6, power antenna, has the deluxe seats, power windows and doors, power hatch. i talked him down to 450 thats all the lower he would go

If no real rust, grab it!
I don't know anything about TX title laws, better see if you can resolve that.last thing you want to dois put a bunch of money into a car you don't own!

there is no rust on this car minus the surface rust on the roof, and this one does have a title to it

Re: need everyones thoughts again

But the ad says something about the wrong name on the title. I'm not there, just saying don't take it for granted you can register it.

I bought the one I posted in the first post, the craigslist ad from Killeen, the 87 trans am hardtop with digital dash, I never even looked at the firebird formula in austin
