Hood

I am going to put a new hood on my 91 RS convertible. I am thinking of a 2" rise plane old cowl hood. But there is more then that to think about. Do I go steel or F glass?

What are the pro's and cons of each? Should I try something else? Send me all your suggestions and pics? Who should I get it from? Does anyone have one?

Thanks here is a pic of my car now.

Re: Hood

For ease of installation, I would choose a steel hood. Glass hoods almost always need about as much as the cost of the hood or more to have a body shop fit them and block out the waves they are notorious for. They should really have hood pins too, which I don't like the look of personally.

Re: Hood

I actually bought mine in Concord Ca about 1 and 1/2 hours from me.
I drove it down there without a hood so I could mount it when I got there. It was at a shop called Chevy Classics and was on sale for $350.00 about 7 years ago.

Re: Hood

As far as the others go, I don't know what they look like underneath or the gage of the metal ?
Maybe someone else can speak up concerning the matter.

Re: Hood

Definitely go with steel I had a fiberglass 4 inch and it took a lot of prep work to get it fitting perfect and ready for paint. Steel wont need to be trimmed.
