Window wipes / blades exterior [ low buck fix ]
Window wipes / blades exterior [ low buck fix ]
Right door is newer with nice seals and wipes but the left door is still stock and pretty roached [still looking for a nice rust free replacement] tired of when it rain the water just runs right down inside making it worse.
Just poking around outside, picked up a section of 3/8 vacuum, no thought in mind, walk by the Firebird looking at the section of missing blade wipe and big gap, look at hose in my hand and hmmm.
by george I think Iv got it, with the door closed and window up, it fits nice and snug in there. Also the window has those felt block just under the wipes, a great shelf to hold up the hose.
Remove the few section of wipe left, few beads of clear silicone on the felt blocks, tiny bead on the outter lip, slip it in, shut the door to hold in place snug and walla, no more water in my door.
[I had a spool of 3/8 vacuum hose laying around]

Gonna re do it with black RTV, clear silicone turns yellow with sun n starts to stand out but working as intended.

it's only like $50 for a pair of new ones at rock auto. How much are you going to have in silicone after doing it twice half a$$ed already?

spend $50 for wipes on a rusted out door,
or spend $50 for a door?
when I find a good door, sure. [ rights are easy to find rust free, not lefts ]
silicone cost $3 for a caulk tube full.
didn't re do it, wipe of black enamel on a brush, out of sight, out of mind.
