rear spoiler mounting

When mounting the rear spoiler to the rear deck lid. Does the spoiler sit flat on the deck lid or is there a washer with dumdum between the spoiler and deck lid? I cant remember, the car has been apart for over a year. It doesnt use those spiral nuts like the two side pieces use its a 10mm nut. Just wondering what seals the holes in the decklid.

Re: rear spoiler mounting

The few I've taken apart had no washers nor any sign of a sealant. I could be wrong on the second part. I imagine that is why there are so many rotted hatch decks. I used butyl tape (windshield style) I had laying around on the bolts on mine.

Yes there is supposed to be some sealer there to keep water out, not just on the spoiler but ALL the fiberglass bolt ons..what I use is some semi soft strips from 3-M I'm not sure of the name and part # but if you need them I'll get them for you when I get to the shop.
