I am wondering if this is a common thing for 91 Firebirds (mine is an 8 cyl 305 TBI Formula).... but there is a part here that I am looking for (if there is even supposed to be a part there to begin with).
I noticed that around the windshield, there seems to be either a rubber seal or a grille plate that goes on either side of the cowl screen.... something looks like it is missing. I can't seem to find anything online. I will post some photos here... maybe someone can point me to where I can find these.... I think they are called windshield wiper grilles, but I am not sure.
Here are some pictures (I will post more in separate entries):
Re: What is this part in between hood and windshield?
well, I tried to post more photos, and I am getting an "upload failed" message.... I hope the photos I provided can help...
anyway... it seems odd to me that the windshield glass and metal are exposed like that... seems to me that there should be something providing protection for all of that.

ok... good to know. but why is the windshield glass exposed on the bottom like that? i have never seen that on any car. my neighbor has a firebird... it is a newer model, but all of that metal and glass is covered.

Not well enough, I get leaves and other debris in that little pocket ALL the time, and it all just drops down into the engine bay right behind the wheel well and between the firewall. Really annoying to clean out, I wish there was a cover for that area.
Re: What is this part in between hood and windshield?
It's part of having hidden wipers. I agree that the leaves can be a pain but a leaf blower makes quick work for most of it.
phoenix1589, the trim could be a little lower and I see what you mean by the exposed metal. It does look bad. I don't know if the window in my attached pic is stock or was redone at some point, but both of mine are about the same. The other one cuts off right at where the body and glass start to diverge.
I would guess that your window was replaced at some point but they didn't get that last bit taken care of. Also, that pic of the cowl area looks like there is some white over-spray or something. Most are usually one color (or close to it) and appears more uniform/less junky than what you have. You could maybe try cleaning up the cowl area, possibly with a plastic scotch bright with a small amount of bug remover, Goo Gone, or something similar. Then maybe see if a glass company can replace the trim or you could try replacing it yourself. I'm guessing that it might just snap in place while the glass part is glued down underneath?
BTW, the uploading errors usually have to do with the size of a photo. It sometimes uploads a photo even if it says that there is an error. It's just the way the software is sometimes.

I hate to hijack this. But seen it while trying to find a better photo of the area on the cowl behind the hinge. Can anyone post a few more pics of this area. Going through my 87 IROC and tracing a leak. Mine had huge globs of Bondo in the seam. It's old and cracking. Didn't know if someone replaced the factory glue stuff that would be there. Chiseled out the old and would like to know what it's supposed to look like.
Borrowed my kids playdough to temporary cover the holes to I'll figure out permanent.🤣🤣
