I have an 86 IROC i just changed the washer reservoir bc it was cracked . now the pump makes noise (like its pumping) but no fluid comes out. so what needs to be replaced????????????

 

I too have a 86 IROC. and I have yet to find a new washer pump that works. but you could have a plugged sprayer situation. or the hoses could be plugged.or you could have a bad pump

 

The pumps have a rubber impeller that turns to crap when they set dry for a while. Also, do you have the check valve on it? Does it work right?

 

Is there washer fluid in the tank? If it's empty that could be the issue... :-p

 

If you've ever used tap water in washer system that could cause plugging due to the minerals in tap water.

Check the rubber hoses for rot/cracks. Check the hoses for holes as well. Especially if you have a rodent problem. For some reason they seem to zero in on rubber washer hoses.

Have tried running the pump without any of the hose connected to it? That way you can determine if the pump is the problem or if the problem is somewhere in the hoses.

 

i went to a ac delco auto parts store and they ordered a new ac deco pump for me i think it was $20.00 plugged it in and it took right off. and whoever said the impeller dry rots is correct thats what mine did cause i took the pump apart its really an easy and quick fix

 

The check valve will cause that.
