What to do when lower fender bolt holes are gone

As with many of our cars, people that didn't know what they were doing would jack these cars up at the lower fender bolt/seam and bend the crap out of them. That area on my car rusted out a while back and I replaced the area with metal patches welded in. I never re-formed the tab that the fender bolts to ( I was 17 at the time, 30 now). I guess I can re-make the tabs and call it done. Have other people run into this and if so, what have you guys done?

Thanks for any advice or tips.

I already know that I am going to have this same exact problem when I get started on body work next spring. The previous owner or somebody seems to have used those tabs to jack it up as well. I would think that it would be fairly easy to Jerry Rig something for it though.

Unfortunately I don't have a finished picture. After the 3rd I ground, shaped and painted the repair but here is what I did. Also don't mind my really bad welding.

So you essentially cut out the damage and welded in plate to try and rebuild that area?

I may do something similar. I am neck deep in engine bay mods (firewall, wheel wells, etc...) Once that is done, this is the next thing on the list. Just wanted to get a thread rolling so that when I get to that step I can see what some other people have done.

Thanks.

Yup exactly. Took a bit of effort to get right thanks to the jack that crushed the section.
