repaint 1989 camaro on the other side of the globe
Hi,
Well as the topic sais I need to repaint my car at some point and I'm on the other side of the globe with different based paint. Let's start off by saying our paint here in Finland is water based and don't mix with american paint. It just doesn't mix unless you swipe your car clear to the metal. Well this isn't something I'd like to do unless I have to since it would take a long time and the body is in good shape but it's 25 years old so it has it's dents with alot of marks from flying rocks.
I've done a first aid touch up on it now with finnish based paint and clear coat with a small brush. This will probably last a year or two and then just fall off due to chemical reaction of the different paints. So I started looking into paints from america and found this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00DPYR4WA?pc_redir=1405343619&robot_redir=1 it seems that I will need a uratane based clear coat also so I need to find that but now to my question.
Do you guys just rub the clear coat down with sanding paper when repainting on a otherwise good body? That's the way I have done on european cars that just needs new paint, offcourse filling and repairing damaged areas but the body in general is sanded on the clear coat and then new paint and clear coats on that. Or do you guys have a way to go with thease american cars?
