Door hinges with no stands

If you only have a garage and no stands to put the doors on, use the rafters. Makes for a gnarly picture also.

Re: Door hinges with no stands

Common methods used by owners includes engine hoist (aka cherry picker) with a nylon strap. Also some have used a hydraulic floor jack with a piece of old carpeting or cardboard on the saddle. Then open a ladder to the "A" shape and slide it over the end of the opened door. Then stuff the gap between the ladder and door with old towels.

Re: Door hinges with no stands

Haven't done pins, but when I was replacing doors on my firebird I used a ATV/Motorcycle jack. Rolling it around and into position wasn't exactly fun, but it was manageable to do solo. Worked really well for getting the door off, but getting it back on was a bit more of a pain, but as stated, still wasn't a "big deal".
