Well' I can change that pulldown motor and have it adjusted in 25 minutes with a beer break. I wouldn't offer much more than 50 in labor, and that's pushing it as far as I'm concerned. Four trim screws on the rear panel, two Philips by the latch, three 13mm bolts and one 7mm screw holding the ground on. Hell, if you were close I'd do it for a beer. Trip to Florida not looking bad right now. What part you in?
Yeah the pull down motor was probably one of the easier things I changed. A little time consuming if you haven't done it before. A new motor and gears really helps that thing out big time. My old one would work when it wanted to. Here and there. One time it wouldn't go down on a 45 min trip home and that was it. Ordered a rebuild kit! World of difference!
I used to be able to work on them myself but I had a lung transplant here in Jacksonville about 7 months ago and i get out of breath easily and have gotten used to hiring people to do things for me. I know it is simple and i will not tolerate a big bill for that . Thanks for the nice gesture.
Dang dude. That has to be rough. I hope things get better for ya. Looking forward to seeing those blisters installed. Are you going to have them painted to match the car?

no as they are already freshly painted black. Saves me the $$$

nah, they are already black and supposedly in great condition. Got them on ebay for 225.00
looked at just the first page and it helps "light the fire" and encourage me to keep fixing mine. wish it looked as good as these tho. Maybe someday. A lot of work left but here she is (before and after the new hood and minor painting to the ground effects).
Wow! Very nice!! I really dig that blue, what is that color called? Looks pretty similar to my blue, and those custom seats look really comfortable!
Thanks. It's GM's Luxo Blue. Ya had Princess from Lethal Interiors make them and I tore them down and refoamed and covered them. I absolutely love them.
Hey dude are those seats cloth or leather? I would love to have those. Awesome ride man...
They are the ulta leather. If your in the market for new seats, check out lethalinteriors.com . She does amazing work and the install isn't super difficult either. I also put new foam on them and followed the video on youtube. Just complete one seat at a time and get a decent pair of hog ring pliers or modify the cheap ones like I did and your golden.
It's the ultra leather so not true leather. She did an awesome job on the covers. She was very prompt with replying to emails when I had questions and kept me updated. She sent a few different color samples so I could choose what I thought would match my interior the best. I really couldn't be happier with how they turned out.
If you decide to recover yourself, get the new foam. They are like brand new seats now and comfy. I just tore down one seat at a time to make sure I hog ringed them properly. There is a video on youtube from the foam manufacturer showing you the process too. I bought some cheap hog ring pliers from lowes. I had to grind down the tip of them so it would hold the hog rings out farther. After the first seat is done it gets fairly easy just time consuming.

Keep up the good work man! Can't wait to see the finished product!
I've had her for only six weeks and I'm the third owner. Original owner bought the car in August of '89 at Bob Fisher Chevy in Reading, Pa., kept her until 2007 and put 10k miles on her during that time. The second owner had ithe car for 8 years and only put 3k on it, mostly just drove the car to shows and such. Both were older gentlemen who treated her right and insisted that I do the same. I plan to drive her a little more than they did though. Thanks again for the kind words.

Nice!!! I'm about an hour away from Reading. It's hard to believe how hard it is getting to find clean original IROCs anymore, and when you do find them, they cost a pretty penny! Yours looks highly optioned from what I can tell. You don't see too many with the carpeted deluxe luggage trim. Drive her if you must, but always take good care of her. I'm going on a cruise tomorrow afternoon with my IROC, and I can't wait!
Sweet Formula... I like the 82-84 Trans Am decal on the hood... I came this close to getting one for my 87...
Thank you. Bought it for my son a couple months ago and we have been cleaning it up. He wanted the hood decal. We put it on, was not sure about it at first, but it kind of grew on me.
p.s. i think it is the same color as yours. Cobalt blue.
No problem! Gotta love a car that is well taken care of. I'm sure painting the fire chicken on there was a huge task, you did a great job! There are many variations of cobalt blue, that looks a little darker than mine. In the shade mine looks dark, but in the sun it looks super bright. I absolutely love my color and there's a ton of metal flake which sparkles in the sunshine!
