Re: Full Floorpan Rust Repair

Oh cool! I'll be in Athens by the beginning of August, so if you even need some in person help, I'd be more than willing to!

The drill bits I would use are the Dewalt Pilot Tip ones (
Amazon.com: DEWALT DW1956 Pilot Point 16-Piece Twist Drill Bit Assortment: Home Improvement Amazon.com: DEWALT DW1956 Pilot Point 16-Piece Twist Drill Bit Assortment: Home Improvement
) so that you don't have to drill two holes.

SWEET! Well thanks for the info, and I'll keep in touch. I not a master machinist, or mechanic so any and all assistance is very much appreciated!

Good luck with it. It's very fulfilling when you finally finish, lol

It's amazing how these cars always rust in the same pattern. I'll bet the water is coming in from the front wheel well in the photo above.

Very great. I'm from Iowa, and will start striping my 92 rs for rust repairs... Being up north sucks.. Let's just hope when I pull that carpet up I won't be horrified. I will be looking back at this thread a lot when I start. Thanks for all the great pics and explinations.

No problem, glad that this will be of help. If you need any questions answered or more pictures, just ask and I'll do my best to answer and post them.

Re: Full Floorpan Rust Repair

So for the lca mounts do they just kinda mold / get welded into the floors pan? Im kinda worried about that area and how far up the rust goes under that rubber mat thing in the front

The floorpan is a separate piece from the LCA boxes, which are just spot welded in a few places to the thicker gauge steel the LCA mounts are in.

Don't worry, try to salvage as much as you can from what you have, because yours doesn't look like it's unusable.
