1988 Trans Am GTA T/Top

Hi,
I am in England and have an 88 GTA. Its a high spec low mile car, but has serious rust issues. I have wanted to deal with it, and last night I bought a 1992 shell that's rust free.
Both cars are T/Top cars. The 1992 shell has plastic panels, and my 88 has the glass ones.
It just occurred to me that they may not fit the same holes.
Will my glass T/Top panels from my 1988 car fit in the 1992 shell?????

Thanks all in advance
Greg

Do you need to swap the body mounted hardware? I thought I had read that while ALL the parts would fit if swapped, that you could not just drop Lexan tops in where the glass ones had been?

Re: 1988 Trans Am GTA T/Top

Earlier glass tops had different hardware, 82-84. 85 and up have same hardware. Some 85 have metal borders around the glass like earlier ones. They still fit, but if you put a later top into an 85 that hard the borders, the seals will prob leak because they are compressed more. Fit can be adjusted on the body hardware.
Of course if you have non factory c and c tops, they aren't comparable at all with factory tops.
88 and 92 ttops are interchangeable, but any time you switch tops on any third gen, the hardware may need to be adjusted to prevent leaks.
