Looking for a car lift
I am considering adding a car lift to my garage. I have 11' ceilings in a 26' x 45' section of my garage and I have 14' ceilings in another 26' x 45' section. I know nothing about lifts, so I am looking for any input on what to look for (manufacturer, 4 post vs 2 post, etc)
Thanks,
Thanks,

I've whittled it down to Greg smith equipment. Good price. Quality looks good. Visited a warehouse and saw the product.

I looked at those ones too last June when I bought mine. But I went with a dannmar wide set one 10acx if I recall the model # right. Felt the lift was just better design overall. Have 0 complaints and can open doors of any of our F bodies near all the way while on the hoist. They had a sale on them last year at ase.com was less than $2500 shipped more than the GS ones but worth the extra $$$ in my opinion

Re: Looking for a car lift
Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone have advice on 2 post vs 4 post? I like the idea of being able to move a 4 post set up if I need to. I store 3 boats and 5 cars in my garage in the winter, but all of the boats are gone in the summer. Having a stationary 2 post set up would limit the winter storage. I am looking for a lift to be able to work under the car easier, detailing, maintenance and repairs. I am not doing any restoration work (beyond my skill set). Is a 4 post set up more restrictive for working under the car?

I like the 4 posts, but, for pure service, 2 post can't be beat.

Re: Looking for a car lift
I have two bend Pak 2 post lifts. One has been used daily for 6 years now with no issues. The other only a year old. I paid 2900 or 3000 and installed with friends help. They are 13'6" I think.

Re: Looking for a car lift
Also interested to hear from anyone who has used quckjack on an Fbody and what jack points they used? Looking at that and the maxjax...ease of use nod would go to quckjack...but if it can't be used along the sides like pictured then I question the validity for our cars...

Re: Looking for a car lift
4 post are nice for storage and basic maintenance, however when you try to do anything else the ramps get in the way. 2 posts are really nice when you are doing suspension or exhaust, but they are a little more complicated to get the car in place and for things like oil changes they aren't wonderful unless you have one of the telescoping oil catch bins. My dad has 4 posts lifts, but I bought a 2 post for myself. That said I am considering buying a 4 post for storage purposes. About the cheapest way to add a cars worth of square footage to a garage/shop.

Re: Looking for a car lift
I used a Bendpak 2 post and has been trouble free. I would warn that there are a lot of import substandard 2 and 4 post on the market. There is an independent group that maintains a safety standard for consumer protections. You can search the list on there website as well as read a lot about the comparisons. Plenty YouTube videos also of some failures. I erred on the side of safety when standing under a 8-10K lb vehicle.
