Door lock cylinders: Will 4th gen work on a 3rd gen?

Will fourth gen door lock cylinders work on a third gen? I am having problems with the ones in my `85, and can probably get a set close by much easier than a third gen set. Are they interchangeable with any other cars? All the linkages/plastic pieces/gaskets are still good and can be switched over.
Thanks.

Just buy third gen replacements. I got mine for $10 each, I think from Rock Auto.
